Taa Quests: Two

The tall lioness loomed over the cub who was peering up at her with wide, terrified eyes. Taa had experience with eating unwanted cubs, but she was not hungry enough to try turning this cub into food. She stared at it for a long time but turned and walked off. If the cub lived or died then it was not matter to her. A small paw batting her tail tuft made the thin lioness swing her head around. The cub was trotting after her on stubby legs. One paw was batting at her tail. The lioness was quiet, deciding what to do, then turned and picked up the cub and resumed walking to her latest kill. The cub looked at the dead lion, eyes wide. Taa ignored the expression and tore a chunk of meat up before she sat it in front of the youngster. It stared back at her and made no move to touch the meat. Taa frowned and nudged it with her nose, making soft clicks and beeps. But still no response. What was wrong with it? The child looked like it would be old enough to eat meat on its own, and here was a piece...for free! A light bulb flashed in her mind, maybe it didn't know that this was food. Apparently, lion was not on the menu of other lions. Another sign at how complete idiots these lions were and now she was thriving while many others were not. Taa picked up the chunk of flesh and chewed it then swallowed. Then she got another piece and once more offered it to the cub. The little lion peered up at her then tentatively took the meat in its mouth and chewed before swallowing. The little body shuddered a bit, then suddenly it let out a happy mew and pawed her, clearly wanting more. Taa couldn't help a small smile as she began tearing off small pieces of meat, offering it to the cub which ate every piece until it finally was full. The tiny tummy was float and it had a content expression on its face. Taa went to lay down, exhausted. She made no effort to move as the little cub crept towards her and nestled in against her belly. The soft snores from the child ended up lulling Taa to sleep.
